About Us

bottomleft2
Pretty cool picture showing recumbents as highest on the evolutionary ladder!

Okay, the first and most important thing to know about us is:

There is no us!

Kinetics is just me - Ben Cooper. I do the lot - build bikes, pack mail orders, answer emails, do the accounts (when I really, really have nothing better to do), make the coffee, and create this website.

That means I’m often a wee bit busy, sorry ;-) If you need to contact me urgently, then the phone is the best idea - I do answer emails, but it might take me a couple of days, as I usually do emails in the evening with a large beer.

Anyway, here are some more useful things to know about “us”:

Where we are and how to find us - and our opening hours.

Sources of info - our environmental ideas, the Knowledgebase is a giant load of questions and answers, and there’s a FAQ about us too. There’s also a list of reviews of the bikes, a list of any special offers we have, and the all-important small print...

How to find us:

By Bike: There are some fun ways - if you are near the Forth & Clyde canal, then jump on to that, and ride along to Westerton Station. Cross over the two bridges (over the canal, then over the railway) then go up Murrayfield drive, through the woods, and down the other side to find us. You can get onto the F&C from the Kelvin Walkway as well - they meet at Maryhill Basin.
Or cycle out along Maryhill Road and cut left into the West of Scotland Science Park. Go past the sports centre, over the bridge, up the hill, and out of the vet school entrance on Switchback Road. We’re just on the other side of the road...

By Train: We are about half-a-mile from Westerton railway station - trains run from low level Central and Queen Street stations every 20 minutes or so. From the station, head up over the hill (Murrayfield Drive), and down to Switchback road, then turn left to find us.

By Bus: You can catch a bus from Glasgow city centre (Hope St.) . The bus you need is the 118 to Duntocher. The buses are about every 20 mins or so.

By Car: Get off the M8 at junction 17, and head along the A82 - it is signposted to Dumbarton, and is also known as Great Western road. Continue along this road for about 4 miles, until you pass under a railway bridge at Anniesland. Take a right at Anniesland, onto the A739 - Bearsden road which becomes Switchback road. After another mile-and-a-half there is a set of traffic lights, with the Glasgow University entrance on the right. Turn left here, and then immediately right onto the road paralleling the dual carriageway. 200yds along, and we are on the left.
If you’re coming from the north, then just turn right at the first lights on Switchback road, then left and we’re 100 yards along. Either way, we are easily visible from the dual carriageway!

B&Bs near us: There are a bunch of good B&Bs in the West End - have a look at this Google Maps page.

The Important Small Print: All of this website is ©1995-2011 by Kinetics. Don't even think of pinching bits without asking. All prices, specifications and other information are subject to change without notice. I do my best to keep this site correct, but sometimes I get things wrong, and sometimes things change very quickly so I cannot keep up.
