Occasionally, I get to see some bike technology that’s simply stunning - the first Rohloff hub, the first USE SUB fork, the new Birdy - but the new Flevobike GreenMachine has to be near the top of the list. It’s totally enclosed - there’s a chain drive and a mid-mounted Rohloff gearbox inside that frame, but you wouldn’t know it - everything is enclosed to keep it clean and incredibly reliable, so this is a perfect commuting recumbent.

Rear suspension, disc brakes, mudguards and a propstand are standard - and because of the rear suspension, the bike can be packed down a lot. Take off the seat and wheels, and the rear swingarm will rotate 180 degrees. It’s not something you’d want to do every day, but for travel it makes it a much smaller package.
The GreenMachine frame is made in three sizes to suit anyone from about 5” to 6’5”, and in 5 colours - red, purple, blue, orange or green.

The seat itself is also very adjustable - it slides forwards and back on rails, the rear support adjusts to set the angle, and you can also tweak the fabric tension with a clever internal tube system.
The handlebars also adjust for reach and angle, and they pivot forwards to make it easier to get on and off. The front brake cable is internal.
Another clever touch is the trailer attachment - under a cover on the swingarm is a standard 10mm thread, which can be used to attach almost any single-sided trailer hitch.
This pic shows a Radical trailer with a Weber hitch, but a Chariot or Carry Freedom hitch would be just as easy to fit.

An optional tailbag by Radical is very tidy - it’s got quick release fittings and plenty of space inside for a laptop and a change of clothes - perfect for turning the GreenMachine into a commuting bike.
