demobrompton

Ex-demo Brompton: I’ve got a very little-used ex-demo Brompton P6L - it’s all orange, with Kevlar tyres and telescopic seatpost. It’s in absolutely mint condition, basically brand new as it’s only been ridden a couple of times up and down the pavement outside the shop. New, it would be £850 (with a 4-month waiting list) - you can have this one right now for £750. Add to your basket

satrday

Bike Friday Sat’R’Day: A fascinating bike, this - the Sat’R’Day is Bike Friday’s folding recumbent, no longer made, and it packs down into a Samsonite suitcase. It’s got 16” wheels, air suspension and underseat steering, and it’s very relaxed and comfy to ride. The full fold takes a while, but it’s possible to do a quick fold to get it into a car.

This one is in excellent condition - the last owner modified and improved the handlebar setup, though it comes with the older handlebars as well should you want to go back to them. It also comes with the suitcase. I’ve got no idea what a sensible value for this would be, so make me an offer and I’ll think about it ;-)

AVD Pickup Van: This is a pretty rare AVD Pickup Van - a four-wheeled load carrier with a van body. It has both pedals (with a SRAM 7-speed hub gear) and an electric motor system based on a Lynch 1kW motor driving the rear axle. The in-built electric system also powers the lights - two front, two back - and the indicators, again two front, two back. It’s got Sturmey Archer drum brakes on all four wheels, with parking brakes, and there’s an ignition system for the electrics.

I got this van as a trade-in, and it’s not done much since - it’s designed to live outdoors and it has done for a while, so rims and spokes have some corrosion - nothing structural, just cosmetic. Everything works electrically, though the lead-acid batteries that are fitted have died - I’ve got a brand new 12V high-capacity battery for it, which I have not fitted yet. It comes with a charger.

The van body is on top of a wooden platform with a steel frame - it’s rated to carry 250kg and it’s got a volume of 1.4 cubic metres - it can carry more than my car! The door at the back is a roller door (lockable) and there’s also a mesh outer door which can be removed - this one was modified to carry dogs. Leg length is very adjustable with two quick releases.

New, this cost over £6000 - from the current AVD pricelist, you’d be looking at about £8500 for a van of this specification. I’d accept offers around the £2000 mark. It can be collected from Glasgow (it’s not at the shop, so viewing by appointment) or I can arrange delivery at cost.

Toxy ZR: This is an ex-display Toxy ZR lowracer recumbent - it’s about three years old, and for all that time it’s sat on a shelf in the shop looking pretty. It’s been ridden about half a mile in total I think, it’s still in perfect as-new condition. It’s got SRAM DualDrive 27-speed gears, Magura Julie hydraulic disc brakes, rear suspension and a fibreglass tailbox. It’s good for anyone from about 5’9” and up.

The ZR is great fun to ride - very fast, but still with a reasonable turning circle because of the front wheel drive - often a problem with lowracers. It’s probably one of the more road-useable lowracers - decent luggage space in the back helps as well, as does the suspension.

New, this would have been about £2500 - the latest version is about £3000. This one is for sale for offers around £1850. Add to your basket

Ostrad SWB: Another rarity from my attic, the Ostrad was made in Berlin about 14 years ago. It’s got full suspension with a couple of inches travel front and rear, and a steel frame. The gearing is interesting - it’s got a double chain arrangement with an intermediate gear and two rear derailleurs to give 35 gears in a very wide range. The derailleurs and shifters are decent Sachs ones, and it’s got V-brakes. It’s good for anyone from about 5’6” to 6’2”. It’s in generally very good condition - it feels quite a bit like a Grasshopper to ride. I’d accept offers around £600. Add to your basket
