This custom build – the first of a pair – has a Brompton-copy titanium frame, Rohloff gearing with belt drive, integral rack, 18″ wheels with Billy Bonkers tyres, disc brakes and a front electric assist.
With the launch of the new Brompton 20″ G-Line, I’ve put together a table comparing the G-Line to the MTBrompton. I’ve also added a comparison with an 18″ Brompton, because I think that is actually more like what the G-Line is like.

The P-Type Brompton has titanium forks and rear triangle – so for this conversion I had to bend and modify the titanium rear triangle to fit in the Alfine gearing and belt drive.

This is an experimental prototype, built for the Brazin’ Handmade Bike Show, and because I had a spare Pinion! It’s got 18″ Big Apple wheels, the Pinion 9XR gearbox, and cable disc brakes.
I’m thinking about whether and how to make this a production thing – it’s more involved than my other conversions, as it involves modifying the mainframe, not just replacing the forks and rear triangle, but watching this space…
The second of this still-slightly-experimental design for an integral rear rack that allows panniers to be carried on the MTBrompton – this build has Rohloff 14-speed hub gears, Gates belt drive, SON hub dynamo lights and Spyre cable disc brakes.
